What is Tadalafila 20 mg used for?
Tadalafil at 20 mg is used primarily for the following purposes:
1. Treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED)
Mechanism for action:
-Tadalafil inhibits the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). In men, during sexual stimulation, nitric oxide is released into the penis, leading to the production of a chemical messenger called cyclic monophosphate guanosin (cGMP). The PDE5 is responsible for degrading the cGMP. By inhibiting PDE5, tadalafil allows cGMP to accumulate, resulting in relaxation of smooth muscles in the penis, facilitating blood flow and subsequent erection.
Effectiveness:
-in many men with ED, administration of tadalafil 20 mg before sexual activity can improve the ability to achieve and maintain an adequate erection.
2. Treatment of pulmonary hypertension (HP)
Mechanism for action:
-in HP, the pulmonary vessels are narrowed and the pressure in the pulmonary circuit increases. Tadalafil works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the pulmonary vessels, which helps dilate them and reduce pulmonary blood pressure. This is achieved, in part, through the inhibition of PDE5 in the smooth pulmonary vascular muscles, which increases cGMP levels and promotes vascular relaxation.
Effectiveness:
-it can improve exercise capacity, quality of life and in some cases survival in patients with pulmonary hypertension.
However, the administration of tadalafil should be supervised by a doctor, as it may have interactions with other medicines and is not suitable for all patients. In addition, it may have side effects, such as headache, abdominal pain, nasal congestion, etc.
