WHAT IS CFP cambodia?
The Circular Fashion Partnership (CFP) Cambodia is a multi-stakeholder initiative working to accelerate circularity in the country’s garment industry. Officially launched in March 2025 in Phnom Penh during the ‘Cambodia Global Textile Summit 2025’, it brings together brands, manufacturers, recyclers, and development partners to reduce post-industrial textile waste and scale up textile-to-textile recycling.
The programme includes:
- Supporting 50-80 factories with waste assessments, training and the implementation of standardised waste management systems.
- Mapping of local recyclers.
- Compliance training for waste handlers.
- Knowledge exchange across the value chain.
- Engagement with national stakeholders to support the development of circularity-enabling policies.
CFP Cambodia builds on the groundwork laid through earlier dialogue and GIZ-led “Advancing Post-Industrial Textile Waste Recycling for a Circular Supply Chain” pilot activities, and reflects a growing commitment to advance localised recycling infrastructure and traceable post-industrial waste systems.
PARTNERS
This partnership is in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, supported by implementation partners Reverse Resources, Closed Loop Fashion, and Circle Economy Foundation, and funded by H&M Foundation and private sector contributions.

WHY cambodia?
Cambodia is a key global hub for garment production, with the apparel sector employing hundreds of thousands of workers, most of them women, and forming the backbone of the country’s economy. It supplies a large share of exports to major fashion markets in Europe and North America, making it a critical link in global supply chains.
Cambodia presents a strong opportunity to build a circular textile industry. Significant volumes of post-industrial textile waste are being produced across the country’s garment factories, yet most of it remains uncollected, unsorted, or sent to landfill. With the industry’s textile waste management systems in development, increasing engagement from government, global brands, and local stakeholders is creating necessary momentum for circularity. The country also benefits from a growing policy focus on green industrial transformation and international collaboration.
